President Murmu Accepts Dharmendra Pradhan’s Resignation

President Droupadi Murmu, on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday accepted the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect under Article 75(2) of the Constitution of India.

The President has also, on the advice of the Prime Minister, directed that Union Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi be given additional charge of the Ministry of Education, in addition to his existing portfolio.

Pradhan resigned from the Union Council of Ministers amid paper leak controversy, saying his decision was aimed at protecting students’ interests and preventing the country’s youth from becoming “trapped in a web of confusion.”

In his resignation letter addressed to PM Modi, Pradhan reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to education and said he was stepping down in the larger interest of students and the nation.
