The Department of Physics, GITAM School of Science, Hyderabad, in association with the Indian Physics Association (IPA), and with academic participation from the School of Education, GITAM, will organize a three-day Residential Professional Development Programme (RPDP) for Physics Teachers on the theme “Advanced Concepts, Pedagogy, and Educational Tools” from 1stto 3rdJune 2026 at GITAM Hyderabad.
The programme is designed to strengthen Physics education at the school and undergraduate levels by integrating conceptual understanding with experimental learning and contemporary pedagogical practices. The initiative aims to address the growing need for innovative teaching methodologies that promote scientific curiosity, active learning, conceptual clarity, and hands-on experimentation in classrooms.
The RPDP will bring together distinguished academicians, educationists, and researchers from premier institutions to provide participants with exposure to advanced concepts in Physics, modern educational tools, low-cost experimental techniques, simulations, ICT-enabled teaching, and student assessment strategies. Faculty members from the School of Education, GITAM, will also conduct specialized sessions on pedagogy, learning theories, thereby enriching the interdisciplinary nature of the programme.
The three-day programme will cover themes including electromagnetic theory, photonics, quantum computing, superconductivity, magnetism, nuclear radiation, experimental demonstrations, DIY physics kits, classroom pedagogy, and learning assessment techniques.
The programme features eminent resource persons including Prof. S. Anantha Ramakrishna, Dean of Sciences, GITAM; Prof. B.V.R. Tata ( Distinguish visiting Professor) and Prof. T.S. Natarajan (Former Professor, IIT Madras); Prof.Vibhor Singh (Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru); Prof. G. Ravi Kumar(Distinguished Professor, GITAM ); Prof. G.A. Rama Rao (Former Scientific Officer, BARC); Prof.Vanaja(Professor of Education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University); and Prof.Deepa Chari from HomiBhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai.
The programme is open to school-level Physics and Science teachers and aims to create a collaborative platform for sharing best practices and innovative approaches in Physics education.
