IPE Launches Five-Day Capacity Building Programme on Startups and Hortipreneurship in collaboration with SKLTGHU

The Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad, in association with Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, has inaugurated a five-day Capacity Building Programme on Startups and Hortipreneurship (23–27 February 2026). The programme is designed to the students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to harness emerging opportunities in the horticulture sector — one of the fastest-growing segments of the Indian economy.

Addressing the participants during the inaugural session, Prof. S. Sreenivasa Murthy, Director, IPE, underlined the rising economic significance of horticulture and the supportive policy ecosystem created by the Government of India and the Government of Telangana.

Prof. Cheena, Dean of Student Affairs, Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, highlighted Telangana’s leadership in horticultural exports (mangoes, sweet oranges, grapes) and identified landscaping as a high-growth entrepreneurial opportunity driven by changing environmental preferences and urban demand.

The five-day programme will feature expert sessions, case studies, hands-on workshops, and mentoring on startup ideation, business planning, funding avenues, value-chain management, export strategies, and sustainable hortipreneurship practices. The event was attended by training coordinator Prof. A Sridhar Raj, Dr. Mosumi Singha Mahapatra, Assistant Professor and others.
