Telangana: Forest Minister Konda Surekha along with CS and DGP pays tribute to forest martyrs

The National Forest Martyrs’ Day was celebrated today under the Telangana Forest Department. On this occasion, the Minister for Forest and Environment, Smt. Konda Surekha, Chief Secretary to the Government, Mr. Ramakrishna Rao, and DGP Mr. Jitender attended the program organized at the Nehru Zoo Park in Hyderabad as the chief guests and paid tribute to the forest martyrs. They, along with PCCF (HoFF) Dr. C. Suvarna, paid floral tributes at the memorial stupa.

Chief guest Minister Smt. Konda Surekha said that the sacrifices of the forest personnel who sacrificed their lives in the face of smugglers and lawless gangs who loot forest wealth should not be wasted and that they are working in line with their aspirations. He said that the government will support the families of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Similarly, the minister said that the government will provide all kinds of assistance and cooperation to the employees and staff of the forest department. He appreciated the tireless efforts of the forest department personnel, even risking their lives, to protect forest wealth. The minister called on the people to also participate in the conservation of forest wealth.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao praised the efforts of the forest officers who are working with great commitment in the performance of their duties and protecting the forests by confronting smugglers. He said that they are risking their lives in dense forests where there are no facilities and protecting the forests.

The CS asked us all to respect the deaths of such officers. In his speech, the CS suggested that steps be taken to ensure that the benefits available to the families of police officers who died in the line of duty are also applicable to forest martyrs.

DGP Jitender said that the efforts made by the officials to protect the forests are very great. He said that the way of the forest officials who are constantly protecting nature and the environment and ensuring that we live and provide life for future generations is commendable. They sacrificed their lives to protect nature. He reminded that it is the responsibility of all of us to respect such people.

Principal Secretary Ahmed Nadeem said that the responsibility to protect the forests lies with everyone. He said that protecting them is the true tribute we pay to the martyrs. He said that the government is working to increase the current 24 percent of forests to 33 percent.

Afterwards, PCCF (HoFF) Dr. C. Suvarna expressed his happiness by saying that the forest department officials are constantly fighting for the protection of wildlife and wildlife.

PCCF reminded that their staff are working far from the outside world and in places where there are no proper facilities for the protection of forests. She said that it is our responsibility to remember the 22 martyrs who have died so far for the protection of wildlife.

PCCF said that they consider it an honor for the forest officials to have the CS and DGP also participating in this program. PCCF said that they have the cooperation of the Telangana DGP every time their forest officials are attacked and thanked him on this occasion.

Hyderabad District Collector Dasari Harichandana, CCFs Priyanka Varghese, Ramalingam, Zoo Director Sunil Hiramath, Curator Vasantha and other high officials participated in this program.
