Singareni Bhavan, September 04: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), recognized as a top company in environmental-friendly initiatives, welfare, and infrastructure development, has once again showcased its excellence by securing national-level Five Star Ratings for four coal mines in the last financial year.
The Chairman and Managing Director Sri N. Balram, was presented with prestigious awards by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Coal and Mines Sri G. Kishan Reddy, at an awards ceremony held in Mumbai on Thursday.
Among the prestigious Five Star Rating Award winning mines are RG OC-1 Extension from Ramagundam-3 Area, JK-5 OC from Yellandu Area, Underground Mines RK-6 and RK-Newtech Mine from Srirampur Area.
Every year, the Ministry of Coal awards star ratings to the best-performing mines in the country, recognizing their excellence in various domains. This process is known as the Star Rating system.
To determine these ratings, the Ministry evaluates 84 parameters which include Mine performance, Safety measures, Management practices, Available facilities, Environmental-friendly actions and Workers welfare.
In the mines that have established top standards at the national level, the evaluation team from the Ministry of Coal directly inspects and assesses the 84 specified parameters. After initial evaluations, the best-performing mines are shortlisted, and a final selection is made by another committee. Mines scoring above 91 out of 100 are awarded the Five Star Rating.
This year, Singareni achievement of securing Five Star Ratings for four mines is commendable. These awards were earned due to the company’s adherence to high standards in mine management, environmental practices, welfare programs, and production technologies.
CMD Sri N. Balram expressed his happiness over this achievement and extended congratulations to the mine management teams and workers. He noted that receiving Five Star Ratings for four mines in a single year is unprecedented and a matter of pride.
In addition, it is noteworthy that 14 mines scored between 80 and 90 marks out of 100 and received Four Star Ratings. It is highly commendable that, 20 mines have received Three-Star Ratings. While some mines had previously received Two-Star Ratings, this time all mines improved their performance and achieved Three Star Ratings, which is commendable.
