PM Modi Lauds Andhra Pradesh For Record-Breaking Yoga Event In Visakhapatnam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has complimented the people of Andhra Pradesh for how they have strengthened the movement to make Yoga a part of their lives. Sharing the Guinness World Records of the largest yoga lesson ever in Visakhapatnam yesterday with 3 lakh 105 participants,

Mr Modi said that the Yogandhra initiative and the programme in Visakhapatnam, which he also took part in, will always motivate several people towards good health and well-being. He said, Yoga brings people together, once again.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today commended the people of Andhra Pradesh for their inspiring commitment to integrating Yoga into daily life, further propelling the nationwide movement for health and wellness.

Shri Modi praised the state’s grassroots enthusiasm and the proactive support shown under the Yogandhra initiative during the 11th International Yoga Day event at Visakhapatnam yesterday.

Responding to a post by Guiness World Records on X, the Prime Minister said:

Compliments to the people of Andhra Pradesh for the manner in which they have strengthened the movement to make Yoga a part of their lives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday commended the people of Andhra Pradesh for their inspiring commitment to integrating Yoga into daily life, further propelling the nationwide movement for health and wellness.

PM Modi praised the state’s grassroots enthusiasm and the proactive support shown under the Yogandhra initiative during the 11th International Yoga Day event held at Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

Responding to a post by Guinness World Records on X, PM Modi said, “Yoga brings people together, once again! PM Modi led the Yoga Day celebrations from the scenic beachfront of Visakhapatnam on Saturday, participating in a massive Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session alongside nearly 5 lakh people.

The national celebration witnessed Yoga sangam events held at over 3.5 lakh locations across India, marking one of the largest synchronized yoga demonstrations in the world.

After the Yoga Day event, Guinness World Records said on X, “Today an incredible 300,105 participants took part in the largest yoga lesson ever, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India – organised by Gov. of Andhra Pradesh to celebrate International Day of Yoga.”

The Guinness World Records also asked the yoga event participants to get a digital certificate at https://gwr.co/YogaLesson.

This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” underscored the vital link between human and planetary well-being, echoing the Indian philosophy of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” (May all be free from disease).

To boost public engagement, special contests such as Yoga with Family and youth-centric initiatives under Yoga Unplugged were launched on MyGov and MyBharat platforms, encouraging mass participation.

Since the United Nations General Assembly adopted India’s proposal in 2015 to observe June 21 as International Yoga Day, PM Modi has led the celebrations from diverse locations including New Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Mysuru, Srinagar, and even the UN Headquarters in New York, transforming IDY into a global health and wellness movement.
