Breaking News: India-Pakistan Agree to stop Ceasefire after DGMO-Level Talks
India and Pakistan have agreed to stop firing and military action with immediate effect. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri made an announcement in this regard in New Delhi.
He said that the Pakistan Director General of Military Operations initiated the call for a ceasefire this afternoon, after which discussions took place and an understanding was reached.
The External Affairs Ministry clarified that the stoppage of firing and military action was worked out directly between the two countries. It added that there is no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any other place.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the implementation of a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan during a press briefing on Operation Sindoor.
According to Misri, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan initiated a call to his Indian counterpart at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. During the conversation, both sides agreed to halt all military operations — on land, in the air, and at sea — with effect from 17:00 hours IST today.
“Instructions have been issued on both sides to implement this understanding,” Misri said, adding that the DGMOs of both nations will speak again on May 12 at 12:00 hours to review the situation.
The Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting confirmed that the ceasefire was a result of direct communication between the two countries.
Officials clarified that there is currently no agreement to hold discussions on any other issues at any other location.
