The Department of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering (EECE) at GITAM School of Technology, Hyderabad, proudly announces the establishment of its state-of-the-art Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Laboratory. This modern facility has been procured under the visionary leadership of Prof. V.R. Sastry, Director of the School of Technology, and Prof. T. Madhavi, Head of the EECE Department.
The ADAS Lab is equipped with advanced short-range radars, including a 77 GHz radar system, and various modules that support research and experimentation in the emerging field of autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicle technologies. On April 25, 2025, the faculty successfully conducted an outdoor experiment using the 77 GHz radar, capturing a range of automotive targets. The data collected will be processed and visualized to aid in both teaching and research.
This initiative is aligned with the academic curriculum of the newly introduced subject Software Defined Vehicles, seamlessly integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. The lab also opens up significant opportunities for faculty and students to engage in high-impact research, publish scholarly papers, and pursue funded research and consultancy projects in collaboration with industry and government agencies.
Beyond the EECE department, it will also benefit the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department by providing real-world data to apply artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques for automotive innovation.
With this new ADAS Laboratory, GITAM continues to reinforce its commitment to providing future-ready education and fostering an ecosystem of innovation, research, and industry collaboration.
