Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu’s (Bhetala) heroic effort to strengthen Singareni economically has finally paid off. Taking Singareni (SCCL) as a challenge, Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has started relentless ‘Bhethala’ efforts. His efforts to start Singareni Naini coal block after holding talks with the Odisha government have finally paid off.

He has interacted with the locals. He has achieved what he set out to do by overcoming the problems he faced right from the beginning. The Naini coal block will be started today only because of the efforts of the Deputy CM. Similarly, he has signed an agreement with the Rajasthan government to make Singareni number one in the country in the solar sector and is moving forward with advance plans.

Singareni Company will start coal mining in another state for the first time in its 13-decade history. The Naini coal block allocated to Singareni Company in Angul district of Odisha will be virtually inaugurated today (April 16) by the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Shri Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Singareni CMD Shri N. Balaram said.

Singareni, which has been operating coal mines limited to the state of Telangana till now, has now entered other states through the Naini coal block, he said.

A long wait of nine years…

Although the Union Coal Ministry allocated this mine to Singareni in May 2016, it took a long wait of nine years to obtain all the necessary permissions and start mining in the mine.

Finally, Telangana State Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, State Deputy Chief Minister, and Energy Minister Shri Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu took special initiative and appealed to the then Union Coal Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi and the current Coal Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy.

Similarly, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu made a special visit to Odisha State and held discussions with the Chief Minister of Odisha State and the concerned officials and paved the way for the commencement of the mine. With this, the long-standing dream of the people of Singareni finally came true.

Due to the special initiative of the State Government, Singareni got the largest coal block. Thus, the way for achieving annual high production will be paved and the company will contribute to its financial strength.

Features of Naini Coal Block …

This mine has the potential to extract 340.78 million tons of coal reserves. If production in this mine reaches full capacity, 10 million tons or one crore tons of coal will be produced per year.

This will be the largest mine among the 17 open cast mines currently in Singareni.

Coal will be extracted from this mine for 38 years at the rate of one crore tons per year.

While an average of 12 tons of overburden (top soil) is removed to extract one ton of coal in the existing Singareni open cast mines in Telangana, in this mine, only two and a half cubic meters of overburden is removed per ton of coal. Therefore, this mine is considered profitable for Singareni.

This mine is producing high quality coal of G-10 type.

Contracts have already been awarded for removal of overburden, mining and transportation of coal in this mine.

The coal produced here is currently transported by road to the nearby Jarapada railway siding and will be supplied to the consumers from there.

However, efforts have also been initiated to construct a separate 60 km railway line in collaboration with other coal companies in the area. This is likely to become operational in the next three years.

A total of 2255 acres of land has been acquired for the Naini coal block. This includes 1935 acres of forest land and 320 acres of government and private land.
