Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra Celebrates Diamond Jubilee

Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra is celebrating its diamond jubilee today. The Deccan Radio of the Nizam in erstwhile Hyderabad state had come into the possession of the Indian Government on the same day in 1950 and came into the Akashvani fold in later days. Director General Akashvani and the News Services Division, Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, will be virtually unveiling the Diamond Jubilee pylon on the premises of Akashvani Hyderabad.

During its seven-and-a-half-decade journey, Akashvani Hyderabad Kendra had become an integral part of the region, comprising the present two Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka, with its continuous programmes in seven languages for all sections of society.

It has become inseparable from the daily lives of the people of the region, as the Kendra stood always beside the people when they had disasters as well as spirited moments. Kendra, through its objective and balanced news and views, traveled along with the people during their agitations for separate statehood, twice during the period and took part in its celebrations when their dream got fulfilled.

Being one of the major Kendras in the country, Akashvani Hyderabad is serving the public in 7 languages, including Telugu, Urdu, Kannada, and  Marathi, with the help of four other Local Radio Stations and 10 more transmitters spread across Telangana state. Akashvani Hyderabad’s programs and content are also widely available on mobile apps and social media platforms.
