Hyderabad: GITAM Hosts Expert Talks on Signal Processing and Global Career Opportunities
The Department of Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering (EECE) at GITAM School of Technology, Hyderabad, proudly hosted a series of expert lectures today featuring distinguished speakers from the realms of signal processing and international career development.
The highlight of the event was an enlightening session by Prof. Karlheinz Brandenburg, a globally renowned audio technology pioneer, CEO of Brandenburg Labs GmbH, and Senior Professor at the Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany. Prof. Brandenburg delivered a captivating talk on “Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics,” covering the evolution of audio coding, advances in auditory perception, and emerging trends such as Music Information Retrieval (MIR), spatial audio, and headphone-based listening technologies.
Widely celebrated as one of the key inventors of the MP3 format, Prof. Brandenburg shared deep insights into the state-of-the-art technologies like Okeanos Pro and PARty, and discussed the future trajectory of immersive audio experiences. He emphasized recent breakthroughs in room acoustics integration and rendering techniques, which now eliminate the need for personalized HRTF measurements. He also revealed plans for a new headphone product with built-in head-tracking sensors, expected to launch in Q4 2026.
Joining the session was Ms. Sunanda Rao-Erdem, Founder and CEO of Seraphim Communications LLP, New Delhi, who addressed students on “Professional Opportunities in Germany.” Her talk shed light on pathways for young engineers to pursue international careers, particularly within Germany’s thriving innovation and technology sectors.
An interactive Q&A session concluded the program, during which both speakers engaged with students, answering questions and offering guidance that left the audience inspired and better informed about global technological trends and career avenues.
The event was presided over by Prof. Rama Sastri Vedala, Director of the School of Technology, who also felicitated the esteemed guests. The proceedings began with a warm welcome by Prof. T. Madhavi, Head of the EECE Department, and were skillfully moderated by Dr. Chepuri Akhilesh, Head of the Civil Engineering Department.
The Department of EECE continues to uphold its commitment to academic excellence by fostering international collaborations and providing students with exposure to cutting-edge developments in technology and professional growth.
