Goa Shipyard Limited partners with IIT Hyderabad and technology experts to revolutionize shipbuilding with AI
Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) has entered into a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, along with technology partners Neer Interactive Solutions Pvt. Ltd., the Center for Geospatial AI and Digital Twins (CGDT), and Andhra Mahila Sabha (AMS) Arts and Science College, to usher in a new era of shipbuilding innovation powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The MoU, signed on March 10th, 2025, aims to leverage cutting-edge AI technologies, Geospatial Digital Twin solutions, Industry 4.0 principles, and QA 4.0 strategies to revolutionize India’s shipbuilding and maritime sectors. The collaboration will strengthen the technological capabilities and resources of both GSL and IIT Hyderabad, helping integrate AI into various aspects of ship design, security, and operational efficiency.
Through the partnership, the organizations will focus on optimizing vessel design processes, enhancing shipyard security, and implementing advanced digital solutions that promise to transform the industry. AI-driven generative design, digital twins, and geospatial technologies will play a pivotal role in improving both the speed and accuracy of shipbuilding, while also boosting safety standards within shipyards.
The alliance has been facilitated by prominent leaders, including Mr. BK Upadhyay, Chairman and Managing Director, GSL; IIT Hyderabad Director Dr. B.S. Murty; Cmde.
