SCR registers best ever Gross Originating Revenue Consistently for the last three Financial Years
The Zone registers Gross Originating Revenue of Rs. 20,452 Cr in FY 2024-25, the highest since its inception.
South Central Railway has been consistently performing well during the last three financial years and has registered the best figures in terms of Revenue by achieving the highest ever Gross Originating Revenue of Rs 20,452 Crores, backed by the excellent performance in both freight and passenger segments. This is also Rs 117 Crores more than the previous best of Rs 20,335 Cr achieved in 2023-24, followed by Rs 18,973 Cr registered during 2022-23
One of the major factors for this achievement is the major thrust given by the Zone towards freight segment. Giving a special focus on the enhancement of freight services, the Zone intensifies its efforts on diversifying the traffic streams and improving the existing commodity baskets through customer-centric initiatives. This included the development of freight infrastructure, ensuring the availability of wagons, monitoring the path and movement of freight trains, improving the work atmosphere in goods sheds etc.
These efforts combined with policy initiatives introduced time to time culminated in SCR achieving its highest-ever Originating loading of 144.10 Million Tonnes and highest ever freight revenue of Rs 13,825 Crore, representing a historic milestone for the Zone. This is 2% higher than the previous best figures of 141.120 MTs and Rs 13,620 crores registered during 2023-24.
Another significant factor contributing to the record Originating Earnings was the big push given to passenger segment. The Zone adopted the strategy of continuous monitoring of passenger demand across various directions so as to introduce new trains, special trains wherever necessary and also augment the existing trains having demand by attaching extra coaches etc.
During FY 2024-25, around 3,500 special trains were run, more than 10, 000 extra coaches were attached to different express trains to meet higher passenger demand. These initiatives have led to the Zone achieving Rs 5, 710 Crores of Originating Passenger revenue. The Zone has carried 263.2 millions of Originating Passengers during 2024-25 compared to 262.5 millions during 2023-24.
South Central Railway has also attained its best-ever revenue of Rs 513.6 Crores in other coaching segment during the year 2024-25. This includes parcel Revenue, Ticket Checking Revenue etc. The zone has also registered Rs. 402.7 crores in Sundry earnings like Parking, Catering and Advertisements etc.
Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway commended the efforts of his team of Officers and Staff for this stupendous achievement. He expressed utmost satisfaction and stated that it is a very happy moment for the SCR team to achieve the best ever Revenue in the financial year 2024 -25 and this adds more onus on us and the Zone is committed to deliver the results in same manner in the coming days also.
