GITAM Architecture Students Embark on an Enriching Academic Study Tour across North India

North India recently became the backdrop for an immersive architectural exploration as third-year students from GITAM School of Architecture embarked on a transformative two-week academic study tour for students was accompanied by faculties from both the Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam campuses traversed the historic cities of Agra, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Delhi, delving deep into India’s rich architectural heritage.

This meticulously planned tour provided students with a unique opportunity to study a diverse range of architectural styles, from Mughal grandeur to Rajput intricacies and contemporary innovations. A significant highlight of the tour was an academic exchange at the Aayojan School of Architecture in Jaipur, where students engaged in thought-provoking discussions and collaborative learning, fostering inter-institutional knowledge sharing.

Among the standout experiences was a visit to the Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School in Jaisalmer—an inspiring example of sustainable architecture. Designed to empower local girls through education, the institution exemplifies the transformative impact of environmentally conscious design, reinforcing the role of architecture in driving social change.

Beyond classroom learning, this study tour offered students a holistic perspective on both traditional and modern architectural practices. By bridging historical insights with contemporary applications, the journey enriched their academic pursuits while deepening their appreciation for architecture’s profound influence on culture and communities.
