Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has deployed around 250 personnel as part of the ongoing recovery operations, following government directives, informed Sri N. Balram, CMD. These personnel have been systematically organized into four shifts to ensure uninterrupted progress and operational efficiency.
Sri N. Balram stated that SCCL’s workforce comprises highly trained and skilled professionals proficient in handling advanced cutting equipment essential for the operation. Additionally, the rescue teams are well-equipped with first aid expertise to manage any emergencies that may arise during the mission.
The teams are diligently working to restore the track line up to the tunnel boring machine while simultaneously removing slush and other materials using tubs. Given the complexity of the task, the recovery operation is expected to take time to reach a successful conclusion. SCCL remains fully committed to the operation, deploying all necessary resources to ensure swift and effective progress.
CMD Inspects the Accident Site
On Friday morning, SCCL CMD Sri N. Balram visited the accident site at SLBC to review the ongoing rescue operations. He closely observed the gas cutting of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) parts and the slush removal activities undertaken by SCCL teams. These efforts are aimed at restoring the track line and facilitating better access to the accident site.
Approximately 250 SCCL employees are working tirelessly in shifts to ensure continuous progress. Additionally, teams from the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), using Ground Penetrating Instruments (GPI), have identified five probable locations. Digging operations are planned at these marked sites under NGRI’s guidance, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SCCL actively engaged in the rescue efforts.
General Manager (Rescue) Sri Srinivas Reddy accompanied the CMD during the visit. CMD Sri Balram commended the relentless dedication and hard work demonstrated by the SCCL rescue teams, emphasizing the company’s unwavering commitment to the successful completion of the operation.
