GITAM to Host a National Workshop on X-Ray Diffraction for Structural Analysis of Materials

The Department of Physics and Chemistry at GITAM School of Science, Hyderabad, is set to host a three-day National Workshop on ‘X-Ray Diffraction for Structural Analysis of Materials’ from March 26 to 28, 2025. This immersive workshop aims to equip participants with in-depth knowledge and practical skills in X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques, a cornerstone in the structural analysis of materials.

This workshop will feature expert-led lecture sessions that delve into the fundamental physics of X-ray diffraction and the various diffractometer geometries employed in structural analysis. These insightful discussions will be complemented by hands-on training sessions, where participants will explore advanced peak analysis methods, structural refinement tools, and data interpretation techniques using industry-standard software, including Origin and XRD analysis packages.

Participants will benefit from interactive discussions, gaining the opportunity to clarify concepts, troubleshoot challenges, and enhance their analytical skills. The workshop will be led by Prof. Ranjith Ramadural, an esteemed expert from the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering (MSME) at IIT Hyderabad, serving as the principal resource person.

Open to faculty members, PhD research scholars, and research fellows in the fields of Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, and related disciplines, this workshop promises a comprehensive learning experience, equipping attendees with both foundational knowledge and practical expertise in XRD data acquisition and interpretation.
