Climate Conference On Theme Of Faith And Climate Change Held At Mahakumbh In Prayagraj
A Climate Conference on the theme of faith and climate change was held today at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on the theme “Kumbh ki Aastha evam Jalvayu Parivartan”. The conference was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During the event, Mr Adityanath highlighted the ingrained values of climate conservation in Indian culture.
He said that the Atharva Veda says that the Earth is our mother and we all are her children. He added that wellbeing of this entire world is mentioned in the Vedas, but in the day-to-day life barriers often come up against achieving this goal.
Mr Adityanath also added many problems today can be traced back to climate change. He noted that rivers sustain countless lives and it is the people’s collective responsibility to prevent it from being polluted and drying up.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister further highlighted the Union government’s efforts to reduce carbon emission and promoting green energy. The climate conference witnessed participation from religious leaders, environmentalists, social organizations, industry representatives, business leaders, and eminent citizens.
It was organised by the Uttar Pradesh government, in partnership with the International Forum for Environment, Sustainability and Technology (iFOREST), an organisation of scientists and environmentalists.
