Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of ICC Champions Trophy Due To Injury
In a setback to the Indian cricket team, its star bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury.
Making the announcement in this regard last night, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named Harshit Rana as Bumrah’s replacement.
In the ongoing ODI series against England Rana has impressed scalping four wickets in his first two outings. Team India have also named spinner Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad.
He will replace Yashasvi Jaiswal who was initially named in the provisional squad. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube are kept as non-travelling substitutes, who will travel to Dubai as and when required.
The Rohit Sharma-led men in blue will begin their Champions Trophy campaign on the 20th of this month against Bangladesh, before taking on rivals Pakistan in a highly-anticipated clash on the 23rd. India will play their final Group A match against New Zealand on 2nd of March.
