Hyderabad: ‘Lakshya’ Inaugurated at GITAM: A Celebration of Sports and Team Spirit
The GITAM School of Business (GSB) proudly inaugurated its two-day Intramural Sports Meet, ‘Lakshya-2024,’ on December 19, 2024. This exciting event aims to provide a platform for students of all skill levels to engage in various sports and cultural activities, fostering an inclusive and enjoyable environment that promotes team spirit and camaraderie.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM, who officially opened the sports meet with inspiring words of encouragement for all participants. “This event is not just about competition; it’s about learning, growth, and building lasting relationships with fellow students,” he stated, wishing each team the best of luck.
Six teams, named Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Ruby, Topaz, and Sapphire, have been formed. Students are eager to showcase their talents and leadership skills. Winners will be recognized with medals, trophies, and participation certificates, celebrating their efforts and achievements.
Prof. Divya Kirti Gupta, Director In-charge of GSB, emphasized the importance of such events in providing students with opportunities to display their leadership skills and learn valuable lessons along the way. “This is a platform for each participant to shine and grow,” she stated.
DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, highlighted the significance of interaction among students, stating that events like ‘Lakshya’ create invaluable connections and friendships. The inaugural program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Dr. Narayana Rao Choudary, Deputy Director of Sports.
The event kicked off with an exhilarating cricket match between the Topaz and Emerald teams, showcasing the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of the participants. Faculty members, including Dr. Sashikanth Kompally and Dr. A. Subrahmanyam, Chairpersons of PG Programmes, also attended, demonstrating their support for the students.
Dr. Roopalatha, Faculty Coordinator, along with student coordinators Yatesh and Raghu, played vital roles in organizing this event, ensuring a seamless experience for all involved. The atmosphere was electric, with participants donning their sports attire and cheering for one another, while faculty and staff rallied behind them at every event.
