Hyderabad: GITAM hosted Festive Cake Mixing Ceremony
GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, ignited the festive spirit this holiday season with a vibrant Cake Mixing ceremony on November 30, 2024. Organized by the Department of Hospitality under the leadership of Ambika Philip, Deputy Director-Hospitality, this event invites students from various disciplines to come together in celebration of Christmas.
The Cake Mixing ceremony is a time-honored tradition that marks the advent of the Christmas season and welcomes the New Year. It embodies the joy of the holidays, emphasizing unity, togetherness, and gratitude for the year’s bountiful harvest. Participants engaged in the delightful ritual of mixing an array of dried fruits, nuts, aromatic spices, and juices, creating a rich blend that will be allowed to marinate over the coming weeks. This process ensures that the cakes produced are both moist and bursting with flavor, embodying the festive spirit.
“This event not only celebrates the culinary arts but also fosters camaraderie among students from diverse fields, including engineering, management, science, pharmacy, and architecture,” said Ambika Philip. “The act of mixing symbolizes the joy of sharing and the essence of community during this cherished season.”
The ceremony saw participation from esteemed university officials, including Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, and DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, along with Heads of Departments, faculty members, and hospitality staff. Their involvement underscores the university’s commitment to creating an inclusive and festive environment for all students.
Cake Mixing is not just a culinary activity; it is a celebration of hope and happiness. Many believe that taking part in this tradition brings good fortune and joy in the year ahead. As the university community came together to mix, they shared the joy and spirit of giving that defines the Christmas season.
