Hyderabad: GITAM Architecture Students Experience Sustainable Manufacturing at TRUFLO
On November 5, 2024, seventh-semester students from GITAM School of Architecture embarked on an enlightening industrial visit to the TRUFLO by Hindware factory located in Isnapur, Hyderabad. This visit was a pivotal component of their academic curriculum focused on working drawings, providing students with firsthand exposure to the practical applications of architectural materials.
During the visit, students had the unique opportunity to delve into the world of Soil, Waste, and Rain (SWR) pipes, exploring their diverse functions and significance in architectural design. The tour allowed them to witness the intricate manufacturing processes of various types of pipes, including PVC, UPVC, and CPVC, fostering a deeper understanding of material selection in construction.
A highlight of the visit was the exploration of TRUFLO’s IGBC Platinum-rated facility, which showcased exemplary green-rated manufacturing practices. Students gained valuable insights into sustainable manufacturing methods and design processes, essential elements in contemporary architecture aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.
The visit was graced by the presence of Sureshkumar Karri, Senior Manager at Hindware Ltd., who shared his expertise and insights with the students. Accompanying them were esteemed GITAM faculty members, including Muktheeshwar Erukulla, Jabbar Ahmed, and Snigdha Roy, who guided the students throughout the experience.
