Hyderabad: GITAM to host Technology Exchange Program on Explosives and Blasting Techniques
The Department of Civil Engineering at GITAM School of Technology (GST), Hyderabad, is set to organize a two-day Technology Exchange Program on ‘Explosives & Blasting Techniques for Infrastructure, Mining & Quarrying Industry’ on December 13-14, 2024. This initiative, announced by Dr. Ch. Akhilesh, Head of the Department and Convener of the program, aims to foster collaboration and innovation within the industry.
The program presents a unique opportunity for project managers, blasting engineers, regulatory bodies, executing agencies, excavation contractors, explosive manufacturers, and researchers to come together to share insights, experiences, and best practices in blasting technology. Participants will engage in discussions aimed at formulating strategies to enhance blasting techniques across the Indian industry.
The event will feature esteemed guest speakers, including Prof. Vedala Rama Sastry, Director of GST and Dean-Core Engineering; Dr. H.S. Venkatesh, Director, National Institute of Rock Mechanics, Bangalore; Prof. Singam Jayanthu, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela; Dr. M. Ramulu, Scientist ‘F’, CSIR-Center for Mining & Fuel Research, Nagpur; Prof. N.R. Thota, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur; and Prof. Sanjay Sharma, IIT-Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
The two-day program will cover crucial topics including the Role of Geology in Blast Design and Results, Developments in Explosives & Initiating Devices, Blast Design for Surface & Underground Excavations, etc.
