Hyderabad: GITAM Organizes Blood Donation Camp
The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Charaiveti student wing at GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on October 25, 2024, in collaboration with NTR Trust. Held on campus, the event aimed to increase awareness about the life-saving impact of blood donation, under the theme “Donate Blood and Donate Life.”
The camp saw a remarkable turnout from students, faculty, and staff, all coming together to support this important cause. Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor at GITAM Hyderabad, praised the students’ dedication to organizing the camp, encouraging ongoing involvement in similar humanitarian efforts.
He highlighted the value of regular blood donation and thanked all the participants for their altruism. DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, spoke on the mutual benefits of blood donation, underlining its importance for both donor and recipient.
Notable attendees included Dr. Rajesh, Dr. Sailaja, and Madhavi, the Administration Head of NTR Trust, who reported that the camp collected over 300 units of blood. They emphasized the value of blood donation as a “gift of life,” with each donation potentially saving multiple lives by providing red cells, platelets, and plasma to treat various medical conditions.
