400 Pumps Of Ethanol Bio-Fuel Established Nationwide: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today said that 400 pumps of ethanol bio-fuel are being established across the country. He was speaking at the BioEnergy Summit 2024 organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry in New Delhi today. Addressing the gathering, the minister highlighted that the government intends to launch flex-engine vehicles by three different automobile brands.
The Minister further emphasized the need for waste segregation for their conversion into biofuels like CNG, Ethanol, and Methane among others. He asserted that biofuel is economically viable in the country.
Earlier in the event, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted the success of India’s ethanol blending initiative, which has seen the blending percentage rise from 1.53 per cent in 2014 to a projected 15 per cent by this year. He added that the government has advanced its target for 20 per cent blending to 2025.
The Minister informed that the ethanol program has generated foreign exchange savings of more than one lakh six thousand seventy crore rupees. The initiative has reduced carbon emissions by five hundred forty-four lakh metric tons and achieved crude oil substitution of nearly one hundred eighty lakh metric tons.
