Telangana: Govt serious about Sunkishala incident: Project Director Transfer and 4 officials suspended

The government has become serious about the side wall collapse of the Sunkishala project. Actions were taken against the officials concerned who neglected their duties. The water board has transferred project director Sudarshan. He was transferred to a non-priority post. Technical Director Ravikumar has been given the responsibility of project director in charge.
Besides.. CGM Kiran Kumar, GM Maria Raj, DGM Prashanth and Manager Harish who are working in Project Construction Circle-3 (Sunkishala) have been suspended. To this extent, the Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department, Mr. Dana Kishore, issued orders.
In addition to this, a show cause notice has been issued to the production company. A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the accident. After the tank accident, the Water Board formed an internal committee and conducted an investigation. The report prepared by this committee was submitted to the government. Based on this report, the government took action.
Due to the recent heavy rains, the Nagarjuna Sagar project suddenly experienced an increase in flood flow and sudden back close wave action and water entered the tunnel. As a result, the tunnel gate was destroyed and the side wall connected to it collapsed on 2nd August. An inquiry committee has been constituted with senior engineers at board level on the accident incident.
While the works of the tank project will start in July 2021, 60 percent of the in-tech well works, 70 percent of the pumping main works and 40 percent of the electro-mechanical works have been completed. There will be no disruption in the supply of drinking water to the city of Hyderabad due to the accident of the tank project.
Current supply will continue as usual till next year. A cistern project is being constructed to supply water to the city of Hyderabad uninterruptedly during the summer season, despite the rainy season. Megha Engineering Company is carrying out the construction works.
