Andhra University launches PG Diploma in IPR

Visakhapatnam: With a view to produce quality human resources to meet the emerging demand of intellectual property rights (IPR) professionals in academia industry and government, the DPIIT-IPR Chair Andhra University launched the one year PG Diploma in IPR course on hybrid mode.

The classes for the first batch of students were inaugurated by Prof G Sasi Bhushana Rao the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Prof N Kishore Babu the Registrar of Andhra University today. The Vice Chancellor and Registrar lauded the efforts of the IPR Chair in creating IPR awareness in the University.

About 15,000 students are now attending IPR course in the campus. As a result of various initiatives such as FDP courses, workshops, training programs, certificate courses, MOOCS programs   undertaken by the IPR Chair in the university campus, now the students researchers and faculty are able to protect their inventions and the university filed so far about 150 patent applications.

There are 54 students registered for the PG Diploma in IPR course from 13 States and 4 students are from foreign countries and majority of them are working professionals such as doctors, lawyers, regulators and researchers said Prof HanumanthuPurushotham the course Director and DPIIT-IPR Chair Professor. Mr P Muralikrishna  Director Novel Patent Services Pvt Ltd  which is the industry partner for offering this course said they will provide all the support including internship to the students in their company.
