Hyderabad: Addl DGP (CID) Shikha Goel Inaugurates Cyber Forensics Lab at GITAM
GITAM School of Technology is proud to announce the inauguration of its cutting-edge Cyber Forensics Lab, a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to advance research and consultancy in cybersecurity. The lab was officially inaugurated today by Shikha Goel, IPS, Additional Director General of Police-CID and Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, during a ceremony attended by esteemed faculty, scholars, and university officials.
The newly established Cyber Forensics Lab is equipped with the latest technology, featuring 60 Dell OptiPlex SFF 7010 systems powered by Intel Core™ i7 processors of the 13th generation, each with a processing capacity of 2.10GHz, 32 GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. The lab also includes advanced GeForce RTX 3050 graphics cards, 22-inch Dell LED monitors, and a two comprehensive Digital Forensic Workstations with 128 GB RAM. The facility is equipped with a TX1 Forensic Duplicator and an educational license for 30 users over three years, alongside various supporting equipment and storage drives.
In her inaugural address, Shikha Goel expressed her enthusiasm for the lab and its potential to significantly contribute to the development of cyber forensics. She encouraged faculty, research scholars, and students at GITAM to fully utilize the facility for groundbreaking research projects and consultancy work, emphasizing the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital landscape. “The challenges in cybercrime are evolving, and it is imperative that we equip ourselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to combat these threats,” she stated.
During the event, Goel also took the opportunity to interact with first-year B.Tech students, inspiring them to embrace cutting-edge technologies. She emphasized the qualities of resilience, hard work, and ethical ambition, stating, “You are the change makers, innovators, and future leaders of our society. As you navigate through life’s challenges, remember that perseverance and a strong work ethic are essential for success.”
Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM, and Prof. V. Rama Sastry, Director of the School of Technology and Dean of Core Engineering, along with Prof. N. Seetaramaiah, Associate Director, and other heads of departments, were present at the inauguration, showcasing strong institutional support for the new lab.
