Telangana State Gets Record Budget Allocation of Rs. 5,336 Cr for Railway Projects During 2024-25

The union budget, which includes the allocations to the Railways was presented on the floor of Parliament on 23rd July, 2024. Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & IT, Government of India held a virtual press conference today i.e., 24th July, 2024 from New Delhi on Highlights of allocations pertaining to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway along with other senior Railway officials participated in the press meet at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister stated that Indian Railways has been allocated Rs. 2,62,000 crore for the year 2024-25. He informed that special focus has been given on making Railways world-class. He stated that a significant amount i.e., Rs. 1.09 lakh crore has been allocated for safety related activities in Railways.

Highlights of Railway Budget pertaining to Telangana State:
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that Telangana State has been sanctioned a whopping amount of Rs. 5,336 crores for the year 2024-25. He stated that the annual average budget outlay for combined Andhra Pradesh State during the years 2009-14 was only Rs. 886 crores. The Budget allocations to Telangana have been witnessing sustained increase with current year’s allocation being almost six times more than the average allocation done during the period of 2009-14 for the combined state, he said.
The Hon’ble Minister stated that the total cost of on-going Railway projects (new tracks) in Telangana state is worth Rs. 32,946 crores. The Hon’ble Minister informed that the Railway network in Telangana is now 100% electrified. He stated that in the last ten years 65 Kms (average per year) of new Railway tracks have been laid across Telangana State as compared to just 17 Kms during 2009-2014. To facilitate safety, 437 RoBs & RuBs have been constructed, he said. Further, 40 Railway stations in Telangana State are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat station scheme, he added.
