Manipur: CM N. Biren Singh Announces Plan To Plant 70 Lakh Trees By September, Praises PM Modi’s Initiative
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the State Government is targeting to plant around seventy lakh tree saplings in the State by September this year.
Attending the 75th Van Mahotsav 2024 campaign under the theme ‘Ek Ped: Maa ke Naam at Lamlai village in Imphal East district today, the Chief Minister applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his innovative idea of planting trees in the name of mother.
The Chief Minister led people in the mass tree plantation held at a nearby hill as part of the campaign today. The State Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister- Thongam Biswajit Singh, Fisheries Minister -Heikham Dingo Singh, MLAs, officials of Forest Department, students and residents of nearby villages participated in the mass plantation campaign.
Hon’ble CM N Biren Singh attended the 75th Van Mahotsav, 2024 under the theme “Ek Ped: Maa ke Naam” at Chingpu Sabi Lairembi Ching, Lamlai Imphal East.
The programme was organised by the Forest Department, Government of Manipur. Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble CM applauded Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his innovative idea of planting trees in the name of mother. Such will enhance the bonding to the plant for future nurturing, he added.
Further, Hon’ble CM elaborated the need for mass tree plantation. We need nature to survive but nature doesn’t need us, he added. Global warming and climate change led to natural calamities in the State. Mass tree plantation has been conducted and we are targeting to plant around 70 lakhs tree saplings in the State till September 2024, he added. During the program,
Hon’ble CM assured that water supply scheme will be set up in every village of the constituency. 11 football grounds of International standards will be developed in the State, he added. Out of which, a football ground is being developed in Lamlai AC under the scheme.
The programme was attended by Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister, Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh, Fisheries Minister Shri Heikham Dingo Singh, Chairman Hill Area Committee Shri Dinganglung Gangmei, MLAs, officials of Forest Department, students, and residents of Lamlai.
