Civil Aviation Ministry Constitutes High Level Expert Committee To Assess Roof Collapse Incident At T1 Of IGI Airport

Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol today said that the Civil Aviation Ministry has constituted a High-Level Expert Committee consisting of Structural Engineers from IIT Delhi to assess the roof collapse incident at Terminal 1 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Mr Mohol said the Airports Authority of India has initiated investigations to determine the root cause of similar incidents at Jabalpur and Rajkot Airports.

During heavy rain, the forecourt canopy collapsed at Terminal 1D of IGI Airport on the 28th of last month. The Minister said that the incident at Delhi Airport resulted in one fatality and injuries to nine individuals. He said there was no loss of life or injury at Jabalpur and Rajkot Airports.
