UP: CM Yogi Adityanath Launches Massive Tree Plantation Campaign Inspired By PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’
Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today launched a massive tree plantation campaign in the state. Under this campaign, a target has been set to plant 36 crore 50 lakh saplings in a day. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Ped Lagao-Ped Bachao, Jan Abhiyan 2024 by planting saplings in Akbarnagar, Lucknow.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the problem of global warming has increased due to continuous deforestation. He said that this had resulted in unusual floods in the month of October last year and in the first week of July this year in the state. He said that the temperatures had sored to unexpected levels of 47 to 50 degrees Celsius.
The Chief Minister said that everyone should plant trees around them and especially farmers on their ridges so that they can contribute to the environmental protection. This will also benefit them from the Carbon Credit Scheme. He said that as a result of the efforts of the Uttar Pradesh government, global institutions are giving a grant of Rs 200 crore to Uttar Pradesh for carbon credit. This amount will be spent on the welfare of farmers.
The Chief Minister said that the government will establish Saumitra Van and Night Safari in the Akbarnagar and adjoining areas of Lucknow. This area will be developed into an excellent eco tourism hub and Kukrail river will be revived due to these efforts.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister gave saplings to the students and distributed carbon credit money to many farmers.
State Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Saxena, Rajya Sabha MPs Dinesh Sharma and Brijlal along with a large number of public representatives were also present on the occasion. Under this campaign, all the ministers in charge and public representatives are participating in the tree plantation campaign program in their respective districts from the state.
