Met Dept Predicts Heavy To Very Heavy Rainfall Across Some Places In Konkan And Madhya Maharashtra

The Mumbai Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across some places in Konkan and  Madhya Maharashtra in next five days. Rail traffic has been suspended following landslide outside a tunnel between Vinhere  (Raigad) and Divan Khawati (Ratnagiri) stations. The efforts to clear the debris are still continuing. 

The IMD issued a red alert to Raigad district in Maharashtra while Orange alert to Palghar, Ratnagiri, Thane, Mumbai Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Parbhani, Hingoli, Amravati, and Wardha districts. The National Disaster Response Force has deployed one team each at Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vasai, Thane, Mahad, Khed, Chiplun, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Sangli,  and 3 teams in Andheri and 1 Team in Nagpur. The local administration at every level is well cautious and ready to prevent from potential hazards.

Heavy rains continued to lash South Gujarat region for the last two days. Surat, Bharuch and Narmada districts received very heavy rainfall during last 24 hours. Umarpada in Surat district recorded more than 13 inches of rainfall in just six hours yesterday. IMD has issued a red alert for eight districts of Gujarat today. 

Widespread rainfall was recorded in Gujarat yesterday with more than 200 tehsils received light to heavy showers in the last 24 hours. Water level in major dams and rivers has been increased due to new inflow of water Heavy rainfall disrupted the normal life in Surat, Bharuch and Narmada districts. Meanwhile, IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in eight districts of the State such as Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari in South Gujarat while Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Diu in Saurashtra region. The state has received around 30 percent of total seasonal rainfall so far.

Heavy Rains Continued In Kerala With Formation Of Low Pressure In Bay Of Bengal

Heavy rains continued in Kerala with the formation of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. IMD has issued orange alert in  Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram districts today.

Widespread damage is being reported from across the state. In Kannur district, many houses were damaged due to strong winds. Holiday has been declared today for schools in Mahi region. Due to continues bad weather, fishing has been banned in the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep till the 19th of this month.
