Hyderabad: GITAM hosts Workshop on Implementation of Digital Examinations
GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad hosted a one-day workshop on the implementation of a digital attendance system and digital examinations on June 1, 2024. The workshop aimed to upgrade age-old processes, reduce manual interventions, and curb student misbehavior in the examination process.
Prof. K.N.S.Acharya, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru and In-charge CATS, was the chief guest at the event. He engaged with heads of various engineering departments, directors of GSHS and GHBS, the in-charge principal of GSS, the CATS team, hospitality team, examination section, and HR department. Discussions focused on exam process reforms at GITAM and the adoption of digital technologies to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Key objectives of the workshop included re-evaluating the entire value chain of the examination process, introducing digital technologies such as biometric entry and QR code authentication, reducing manual interventions, and decreasing manpower requirements.

Proposed digital technologies to be implemented include digital camera-enabled classrooms, biometric entry, QR code authentication, live video feed tracking, and mobile app-based support. These technologies aim to automate classroom allotments, track invigilation processes, and ensure secure storage of answer scripts.
Faculty members will use digital tools to track their supervision duties, capture attendance, and prevent malpractices during exams. Prof. K.N.S.Acharya addressed questions from faculty members and staff, while Prof. N.Seetharamaiah, Prof. T.Madhavi and Gopala Krishna G played key roles in organizing the workshop.
