Among the states, Andhra Pradesh recorded highest voter turnout of 81.86 percent
Andhra Pradesh records the highest voter turnout among the states that went for polling till date. As many as 15 Lok Sabha constituencies record a polling percentage higher than 80 per cent. The state went for simultaneous election to the Lok Sabha and State assembly in the fourth phase on 13th May.
Surpassing its previous turnout of 79.68 % in the 2019 general elections, Andhra Pradesh registered a record turnout of 81.86 percent in the recently concluded polls. The 81.86 percent includes 80.66 percent votes polled in EVMS and 1.2% through the postal ballot.
As many as 117 assembly constituencies out of 175 registered a voter-turnout above 80% and 58 assembly constituencies above 85%. The Darsi assembly constituency in Prakasam district registered the highest voter turnout of 90.11 percent.
Among the Lok Sabha constituencies, 15 out of 25 registered a turnout above 80% with the Ongole Parliament constituency recording 87.06%. The polling pattern clearly shows the rural segments out performing the urban ones.
