Andhra University Celebrates World IP Day
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University celebrated World Intellectual Property Day today , in a manner befitting the Occasion, acknowledging the crucial role of Intellectual Property plays in driving innovation, fostering creativity and spurring economic growth.
DPIIT IPR Chair, Centre for Intellectual Property conducted series of events such as conducting online A.P. State level IPR Champions Quiz Competition which isa significant initiative to promote awareness and understanding of IPR among the students.Ms GSRL Madhavi from Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology & Research (Deemed to be University)Gunturu got the first prize.
Ms. Thunga Ragasudha, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Tirupati, and Mr.Guduru Manideep, Vignans Foundation for Science, Technology & Research (Deemed to be University)jointly got second prize and MsA. Tejasree from Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Tirupati, clinched the third prize.
Andhra University launched a one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights Course under the visionary leadership of its Vice-Chancellor. It signifies a commitment to excellence in education and represents a significant milestone in the realm of higher education.
Andhra University DPIIT IPRChair Government of India recognises innovation and intellectual contributions within the academic community. World IP Day Awards were given to most prolific inventors from the University. Prof. James Stephen Meka from Computer Science Dept and Dr B R Ambedkar Chair Professor got the first prize,Dr. Ravikiran S. Yedidi, Professor ofPractice from Zoology Department got the second prize and Prof C.N.V. Satyanarayana Reddyhead of civil engineering department got the third prize..
The Vice-Chancellor Prof PVGD Prasad Reddy, former Vice Chancellors ProfBeelaSatyannarayana Prof GSN Raju and Prof V Bala Mohan Das and Dr K Kumar Raja Vice Chairman AAAs felicitated and presented the World IP day Awards and congratulated the awardees for their outstanding contributions in IP area.
The Vice Chancellor also lauded the efforts and various initiatives taken by Prof H Purushotham the IPR Chair Professor and his Team to conduct large number of IP awareness programs, teaching IP to about 10,000 students through AU MOOCS platform, filing about 150 Patent applications and contributing significantly for 55 percent growth in patent filings in the AP state last year and AP government recognising Andhra university as a State IPR nodal agency.
Prof H Purushotham in his welcoming address highlighted that being a multidisciplinary university with six constituent colleges the University has a potential to file at least 200 Patents in a year as the patenting culture is now becoming vibrant in the University campus.
