GITAM Deemed-to-be University is pleased to announce that the Indian Council of Social Science Research has sanctioned a prestigious research project to Prof. M.Jayasree, GITAM School of Business, Hyderabad.
Titled “Bi-Directional Study of ESG and Firm Performance: Empirical Evidence from Indian Pharmaceutical Industry,” the project aims to investigate the reciprocal relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors and the performance of pharmaceutical companies.
This research stands out for its unique contribution in exploring the bi-directional impact of ESG and firm performance, particularly assessing whether the relationship exhibits an inverted U shape, aligning with the Environment Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis. Notably, this study carries social relevance by addressing the imperative of safeguarding the interests of future generations. With a duration of 12 months; the project has been awarded a total grant of Rs. 8 lakhs.
Prof. M. Jayasree, serving as the Principal Investigator (PI), will lead the research efforts to examine the influence of ESG reporting on firm performance, analyzing the individual impacts of Environmental, Social, and Governance scores on firm performance, and investigating how firm performance, in turn, affects ESG reporting.
As part of the project implementation, Prof. M. Jayasree is seeking research staff with a Master’s Degree in Management and Commerce with minimum 55% marks and M.Phil/ Ph.D from a recognized university.
