Kerala: Thrissur’s Thekkinkadu Maidan, thousands of spectators thronged to witness the famous Kudamattom
In Kerala, thousands of spectators thronged the Thekkinkadu Maidan in Thrissur yesterday evening to witness the famous Kudamattom, the colorful display of parasols on top of caparisoned elephants.
Two rows of 15 elephants stood face-to-face, displaying different hues of parasols, symbolizing the friendly rivalry between Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu temples.
The Kudamattom will be followed by a colorful display of fireworks during the early hours of tomorrow morning. Earlier in the day, the Madathil Varavu Panchavadya Melam and the Ilanjithara Melam, a musical ensemble in which over 200 artists took part, enthralled Pooram lovers.
