Manav Vikash Thakkar Advances to WTT Feeder Havirov Quarter Finals: Manika Batra And Sreeja Akula Triumph in Group Stages
In Table Tennis, India’s Manav Vikash Thakkar has advanced to the Quarter Finals of the WTT Feeder Havirov, in Czech Republic this evening. He defeated Andreas Levenko of Austria, 3-2, in the Men’s singles category. Thakkar, ranked 60 in the world rankings, came back from two games behind to win the round of 16. He will now lock horns with the 17 year old Polish player Milosz Redzimski in the next round.
In other matches, India’s G Sathiyan faced a defeat against Alvaro Robles of Spain, 1-3 in the Mens Singles Pre-quarters. In Women’s singles, another Indian, Yashaswini Ghorpade also faced defeat against Georgina Pota of Hungary, 2-3 in the pre-quarters.
Manika Batra And Sreeja Akula Triumph In Table Tennis World Cup Group Stages
In Table Tennis World Cup, India’s top players, Maika Batra and Sreeja Akula started their campaign today with flying colours in the Women’s Singles group stages in Macao, China. World number 37, Manika Batra defeated Adina Dicanou of Romania, 3-1, while Sreeja Akula beat Natalia Bajor of Poland in straight games, 4-Nil.
In their next group matches, Batra is scheduled to face World number 2, Manyu Wang of China tomorrow. Sreeja will face another Chinese Chen Meng in her last group match.
A win in the next matches will ensure the Indian players a place in the knockouts.
