On March 22, 2024, the Department of Chemistry at GITAM School of Science observed ‘World Water Day’ under the theme ‘Water for prosperity and peace’ with great enthusiasm and dedication.
Dr. R. Uma Devi, Assistant Professor, emphasized the critical importance of water conservation in the face of mounting challenges such as population growth, industrialization, and climate change. She highlighted the need for global cooperation and concerted efforts to address water scarcity and ensure access to clean water for all. Dr. Uma underscored the role of water in fostering harmony, generating prosperity, and building resilience to shared challenges, urging everyone to unite around water for peace.
Awareness Program at ZPHS, Rudraram:
Dr. Uma, Dr. T.B.Patrudu, along with fellow faculty members and B.Sc. students, organized an awareness program at ZPHS, Rudraram, to educate students and the community about the importance of water conservation. A pledge on water conservation was taken by students and faculty members to demonstrate their commitment to preserving water resources.
A poster competition and face painting program were conducted to engage students creatively and raise further awareness about water conservation. Prizes and appreciation letters were distributed to the winners to recognize their efforts and encourage active participation in water conservation initiatives.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to work towards ensuring sustainable water management and access to clean water for all.
