Mr. N. Balaram, Chairman and MD SCCL stated that the management of Singareni is looking at the modern technology available at the international level to make the underground mines 100% safe.

He discussed the above with high level officials after inspecting the performance of modern equipment newly designed by Australian firm NOAM to prevent roof collapse accidents in underground mines at Singareni Bhawan in Hyderabad on Thursday.

There have been several incidents in the past of workers dying due to sudden collapse of roofs in underground mines even though many safety measures have been taken. Meanwhile, NOAM, a leading Australian research firm, has developed a machine section that issues early warnings before roof accidents occur using cutting-edge technology. This will alert the mine workers either by flash lighting or siren before the roof accident occurs.

This will ensure that all possible measures are taken to prevent accidents and prevent loss of life. Wanting to use this advanced technology in the Singareni organization as well, the company’s Managing Director for Australia Nathan Owen, General Manager Keson Finlen, Chairman and MD N Balaram, Director Planning and Projects G Venkateshwar Reddy, General Manager (R&D) Mr. SDM Subhani explained through the demo station.

Director Planning and Project Mr. G. Venkateswar Reddy explained that the Singareni company will use the modern technology that is already available for the prevention of accidents, and this new technology that gives regular warnings about the roof falling down underground has the potential to prevent accidents 100 percent. General Manager (R&D) Shri S. D.M Subhani said that they have examined the demonstration given by the Australian team, discussed it at a high level and explained that a decision will be taken soon.
