Hyderabad: GITAM Hosts Inter-University Sports Tournament ‘GUSTO-2024’
GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, kicked off the three-day Inter-University Sports Tournament ‘GUSTO-2024’ today with a grand inauguration ceremony. The event was graced by the presence of Nagapuri Ramesh, Dronacharya Awardee, who lit the sports torch and declared the tournament open.
In his address, Ramesh emphasized the importance of sports in developing qualities such as unity, sportsmanship, and resilience. He encouraged the participants to strive for excellence and embody the true spirit of sports.
DVVSR Varma, also present at the event, highlighted the significance of sports for mental well-being and overall health. Dr. M. Naraya Rao Choudary, Deputy Director of Sports, commended the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to the games. Thapaswi, Sports Manager briefed about the three-day competitions.
The tournament will feature a variety of sports including cricket, volleyball, table tennis, football, badminton, kabaddi, throwball, chess, and basketball. Sports teams from about 26 universities and colleges, such as VIT-AP, VNR VJIT, JNTU, KLU, AMITY, Woxsen, Mahindra ecole centrale, Mallareddy, Vardhaman, BVRIT, and GITAM are set to compete in the various competitions.
The Inter-University Sports Tournament ‘GUSTO-2024’ aims to promote athleticism, sportsmanship, and unity among the participants. The event will conclude on March 15, 2024.
