Hyderabad: Women’s Day Celebrated at GITAM

The Women’s Cell of GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, in collaboration with Women Leaders Forum (WLF), E-Club, G-Studio and Student Life, celebrated ‘International Women’s Day’ (IWD) on March 8, 2024. The theme of the event was ‘to inspire women inclusion’, and it brought together esteemed guests, inspiring speakers, and engaging activities to empower and celebrate women.

The Chief guest Dr. M.R.Vishnu Priya, Chief Scientist and Head of PME at CCMB shared words of wisdom drawn from her own experiences, emphasizing the importance of self-belief, and continuous learning in overcoming challenges. Her inspiring anecdotes resonated with attendees, inspiring them to persevere in the face of adversity and pursue their passions with conviction.

The Guest of honor Shubangi Tammalwar, Nutritionist/Dietitian brought the event to a lively close with engaging exercises and insightful discussions on nutrition and healthy living. Her practical tips and advice left attendees feeling empowered to take control of their health and well-being, embodying the spirit of empowerment that defined the celebration.

The cultural extravaganza showcased the diverse talents and experiences of women, with a report presentation by a student. Yamini, SVC at VDC, shared her personal struggles, and triumphs in the world of recruitment. Prof. T.Madhavi, Head of the EECE Department presided over the program, and Dr. N.Prasanna Lakshmi, Coordinator of the Women’s Cell, proposed the vote of thanks.

Earlier, the event began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the collective effort needed to illuminate the path towards gender equality and women’s empowerment. It was attended by DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, faculty members, students, who left feeling empowered and inspired to pursue their passions with conviction. The Women’s Cell, looks forward to continuing its efforts to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the future.
