Hyderabad: Research Projects Sanctioned to GITAM Faculty
Prof. Dayananda Siddavattam, Vice-Chancellor of GITAM Deemed to be University, is pleased to announce the approval of two research projects by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), New Delhi.
The first project, titled “Exploring the Combinatorial Potential of Verteporfin and 2-Thio-6-Azauridine for Targeting Paclitaxel-Resistant Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Stem Cells in In Vitro and In Vivo Models,” will be led by Prof. Rama Rao Malla, Department of Biochemistry, School of Science, with Dr. P. Kiranmayi, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, School of Science, as the Co-Principal Investigator. The project has been allocated a provisional budget of INR 65.06 lakhs under the Core Research Grant (CRG) scheme.
The second project, titled “Development of an Electromagnetic Non-Destructive Testing System for Magnetic and Non-Magnetic Materials,” will be spearheaded by Dr. Chandrasekhar Angani, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, School of Science, with Dr. Ravi Kumar Gurazada, Distinguished Professor, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, as the Co-Principal Investigator. The project has received a provisional budget of INR 32.49 lakhs under the Core Research Grant (CRG) scheme.
In addition, the NMICPS Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation Foundation (TiHAN), IIT Hyderabad, has granted administrative approval for the project titled “Design and Development of a Bioinspired, Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle.” This project, being carried out by the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, will have Dr. Prafulla Kumar Swain, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, GST, serving as Co-Principal Investigator. The project has been allocated a budget of INR 10 lakhs for a duration of 12 months.
