PM to dedicate Ambari – Adilabad – Pimpalkhuti Electrification Project to the Nation
Shri. Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India will dedicate the Electrification project of Ambari – Adilabad – Pimpalkhuti to the nation on 04th March, 2024 at Adilabad.
The Ambari – Adilabad – Pimpalkhuti Electrification is part of the Mudkhed – Pimpalkhuti Electrification works project. The electrification for this section is sanctioned for a length of 182 Route Kms in the year 2017-18 at an estimated cost of Rs. 206 Crores.
The 58 Route km (71 track kms) of Ambari – Adilabad – Pimpalkhuti section has been electrified at a cost of approximately Rs. 70 crores. This Railway Line section falls in the backward districts of Adilabad (46.6 Route km) in Northern Telangana Region and some portions of Nanded and Yavatmal districts in Maharashtra (11.5 Route km). It serves as the connecting route towards Nagpur and other parts of Maharashtra.
This critical section falls in the railway line connecting Hyderabad / Secunderabad towards Nagpur (via Nizamabad) and beyond. Electrification of this railway line facilitates seamless rail connectivity from Adilabad towards Hyderabad / Secunderabad, Bengaluru in the South as well as Nagpur and beyond in the North.
It will also avoid detention of trains on account of traction change thereby improving the average speed of both passenger and freight trains. In addition, it will reduce environment pollution on account of diesel fuelled trains, thereby saving annual fuel costs. It also helps the farm sector in the Adilabad and surrounding areas by providing safe, fast and economical transportation to their products like cotton, chillies, pulses and maize.
Telangana has been a witness to unprecedented Rail developmental activities in the recent past. Today, rail infrastructure across the State is being created at a rapid pace due to massive increase in the investment in the State. During the last 10 years, the Rail budget allocation for Telangana has been increased by nearly 20 times i.e., from Rs. 258 Crores in 2014-15 to Rs. 5, 071 Crores in 2024 – 25.
This has immensely contributed towards the record infrastructure creation. One of the critical aspects of this growth has been electrification of rail network in the State. As part of ‘Mission Electrification’, the entire railway network in Telangana (apart from those which are under construction) has been electrified. In the last 10 years, a massive 1, 753 Track kms of rail network has been electrified across the State.
