Mr. N. Balaram, Chairman and MD of SCCL stated that Singareni, which has already set up 234 MW solar plants across the company, is soon ready to set up about 800 MW solar plants on huge reservoirs with the approval of the state government.
He conducted a special review on Saturday at Singareni Bhawan in Hyderabad along with Director E&M Mr. D. Satyanarayana Rao and other senior officials of Singareni Electricity Division.
On this occasion, he discussed the new solar power projects to be undertaken by the Singareni company as part of the company’s business expansion activities. In light of the recent call by the State Energy Minister Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu to work towards increasing solar power, the CMD has directed the relevant officials to take appropriate preparatory measures to set up a 300 MW floating solar plant on the water of Lower Maneru Dam and a 500 MW solar plant on the Mallanna Sagar reservoir.
He said that the DPR for setting up a 300 mega watt solar plant on Lower Manor Dam is ready, so the company is ready to take up the construction with the permission of the state government. Meanwhile, he directed the officials to prepare the DPR immediately regarding the establishment of two 250 megawatt floating solar plants planned to be set up on the Mallanna Sagar reservoir.
He also reviewed the activities related to the 500 megawatt solar plant set up at Singareni in the state of Rajasthan. He said that a more in-depth study should be done on the DPR prepared on this, and a special plan should be made so that electricity can be produced at a low price, so that electricity distribution companies will have the opportunity to buy more Singareni solar electricity.
On this occasion, he also reviewed the performance of Singareni Thermal Power Station at Jaipur in Manchiryala District. The officials were asked to complete the tender process for the proposed 800 MW supercritical thermal power plant on the same premises in addition to the existing 1200 MW plant and start the construction.
Mr. Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary of Central Coal Department, who recently visited Singareni Thermal Power Station, suggested to examine the possibilities of constructing 800 megawatts super critical plant along with another eight hundred plants in the same premises. Therefore, the chairman ordered to submit a report on the feasibility immediately.
