Hyderabad: Students planted saplings as part of GITAM Farewell Day
In a thoughtful and eco-conscious gesture, final-year students at GITAM Deemed to be University, Hyderabad, celebrated their farewell day by planting saplings on the campus. This initiative aimed not only to commemorate their college journey but also to contribute to the environment.
Each student planted fruit-bearing saplings, including mango, guava, avocado, pomegranate, and sweet lime. These saplings, with a lifespan ranging from 50 to 100 years, were chosen to create a lasting memory of their time at GITAM.

The symbolic act of planting trees serves a dual purpose—fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment and establishing a lasting connection with the institution. The students, in nurturing these saplings, contribute to reducing carbon dioxide, stabilizing soil to prevent erosion, and enhancing natural water filtration.
The idea was initiated by the Student Life at GITAM, and with the support of the gardening staff, the necessary arrangements were made to ensure the success of this environmentally conscious farewell celebration. This initiative reflects the commitment of GITAM students to sustainability and environmental consciousness.
