Telangana: FCRI turns to forest products and marketing: Minister unveils FCRI’s first product honey “Wild Flavors”
Started in 2016, Mulugu Forest College and Research Institute has made its mark in forestry education. Similarly, it is providing financial resources by focusing on forest research. As part of this, special attention was given to quality forest products and their marketing aspects.
As part of this, the first product honey “Wild Flavors” was launched today by Environment and Forest Minister Mrs. Konda Surekha. With this, FCRI introduced its first product of honey “Wild Flavors” in the market.
FCRI CARES Wild flavors forest honey was launched today (26-02-2024) by Hon’ble Minister (Environment & Forests, Endowment) Smt Konda Surekha madam, Smt. A. Vani Prasad, IAS Prl. Secretary (Environment, Forests, Science & Technology), R.M. Dobriyal Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & HoFF, Telangana Forest Department, Government of Telangana, Forest department officials, Smt. Priyanka Varghese, Dean of Forest College and Research Institute, Sailaja, Assistant Professor, FCRI into the market.

Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre is established at Forest College and Research Institute, Mulugu, Siddipet District, Telangana to create awareness on Scientific Beekeeping to promote beekeeping as sustainable livelihood to rural people and post harvest management of honey and other beehive products (beeswax, bee pollen, propolis, royal jelly, comb honey , bee venom).
As a part this project we have started beekeeping at IBDC with 500 beehives kept inside forest and harvested pure, organic, natural and certified forest honey with a brand name of FCRI CARES wild flavors. We have established Honey testing laboratory, Bee disease Diagnostic laboratory, honey and other beehive products processing unit at IBDC, FCRI.
We are giving 7 days training on Scientific Beekeeping to the farm and nonfarm rural people, women, students, entrepreneurs and department employees from Telangana and other states.
