Kashmir Valley Blanketed in Snow as Upper Reaches Record Over 5 Feet

In Kashmir valley, the upper reaches as well as the plains received moderate to heavy snowfall today. After incessant rainfall for the past two days, Srinagar city has also received snowfall since morning.

Reportedly, more than 5 feet of snow has accumulated in the higher reaches of North Kashmir. Most parts of South Kashmir also witnessed moderate to heavy snowfall since the beginning of the wet spell on February 18th.

Heavy snowfall was also being witnessed at famous tourist destination, Sonmarg in central Kashmir.

Gulmarg, the famous Ski-resort which is scheduled to host Khelo India Games from tomorrow, continues to receive snowfall today as well.

Meanwhile, Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained closed for the second consecutive day in the wake of landslides caused by heavy rainfall at several places along the route.

Several flights have been canceled due to poor visibility caused by continuous snowfall.
