Telangana RS Polls: 2 nominees from Congress, 1 from BRS file papers

In Telangana, both the Congress and the BRS candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections are set to be elected unanimously. Congress candidates, former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury and former president of Telangana Youth Congress, M Anil Kumar Yadav have filed their nominations. 

On election, this will be Renuka Chowdhury’s fourth term and Anil Kumar Yadav’s debut in the upper house. With 64 MLAs, the Congress can elect two candidates for the Rajya Sabha. Anil Kumar Yadav’s nomination, however, comes as a surprise to many, bypassing several senior leaders. 

The son of former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, Anil previously sought the Secunderabad Assembly seat but was denied. Meanwhile, the sitting member Vaddiraju Ravichandra filed his nomination papers yesterday after the BRS renominating him.

The BRS, with 39 MLAs, can win a seat comfortably. An industrialist, Ravichandran, entered the Rajya Sabha through a by-poll in 2022 has got another opportunity after his two-year term is expiring.  Tweeted
