Hyderabad: FDP on 5G Technology held at GITAM

The Department of Electrical, Electronics, and Communication Engineering (EECE) at GITAM School of Technology organized a two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘Advances in 5G Technology and Beyond’. The event, held on February 8-9, 2024, at the GITAM Hyderabad campus, aimed to introduce participants to the latest developments in 5G technology and research areas in advanced communication technology.

The FDP was inaugurated by Brahma Reddy, Former Chairman of IEI Telangana Chapter, who graced the event as the chief guest in the inaugural session. In his address, Reddy emphasized the importance of staying updated with the advancements in 5G technology.

During the two-day program, industry experts delivered insightful talks on various aspects of 5G technology. Ramana Ravuri, CEO of TejoCell, shed light on the fundamentals of 5G communications, while Subhra Prakash, CEO of Sigworks Research Labs, discussed the approaches and future networks of 5G development.

Dr. Martha N. Reddy, a DRDO Scientist ‘G’, delivered a talk on the role of laser sources in broadband communications, and Dr. Praful Mankar from IIIT Hyderabad discussed the security and privacy challenges in 5G networks.

The welcome note was delivered by Prof. Madhavi, Head of the Department of EECE, and the vote of thanks was proposed by M. Raghupathy, Coordinator of the FDP. Prof. N. Seetaramaiah, Associated Director of the School of Technology, also participated in the inaugural session.

The FDP provided an excellent platform for participants to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the latest developments in 5G technology. The event was attended by faculty members, researchers, and industry professionals from various institutions and organizations.
